It kinda looks like a Dodge Omni, but so did every other hatch from that time period

Citroen Visa!

A little searching shows that this is a Citroen Visa.

Scrolled further: someone else also thinks this!

So is it the only one in the US still? or is he bringing it back to Canadaland?

Since everyone else said Citroen Visa, I’m going to say that it is a... Nissan Nomnomnomnom.
![]() 01/25/2016 at 12:00 |

It’s on its way to Canada. But he thinks its the only on in North America so its still pretty rare!

The car you saw probably was the much shittier Citroën Axel. They were Romanian built and optically similar to the Visa.

My parents used to have one. It had the aircooled flat 2 cylinder engine from the 2CV. Does that red one have the flat 2, or one of the many 4 cylinder engines it was available with? I bet it’s not the diesel.

Make it look like it was ripped off!

More accurately, the Dodge Omni looked like the Simca-Talbot Horizon, which was nearly identical to a bunch of other Euroean hatchbacks that started the trend that the US and Asian manufacturers followed.

I remember seeing BOTH of them actually. They were parked side by side and I did a double take because they looked the same...but they werent the same...and I needed a minute to figure out the differences

Does it have the one-spoke steering wheel? My aunt had one of these
![]() 01/25/2016 at 12:28 |

Yes. Yes I can.
There was a van version too which our postal service used to use.

I’m sure it close to the only one. Maybe those French Islands off the coast might have one since they are technically North America.

I’d hazard a guess that it’s the four cylinder 1100. More common and they stopped making the 650 during production.

Already been id’d, but like everyone else, I’m almost certain it’s a Citroen visa
Unfortunately though, as rare as it is, I don’t think it’s the only one the US; I remember Doug finding one about a year ago

Worst car I ever drove was one of these with the 2 cylinder engine, god it was hateful! They did a GTi version though as well with the 1.6 from the 205 GTi that was apparently good fun!

The Caribbean usually gets lumped in to North America, too, and I bet there’s a few there. But, probably safe to say its one of no more than between 1 and 5 on the mainland.
